2026 Letter from the President

Hello Fellow Association Members,
Welcome to the Mid-Atlantic Floor Covering Association! I am reaching out to you with our annual newsletter. 2025 was challenging for most of us in the industry. Our industry was affected by interest rate pressures, higher housing prices, challenging mortgage rates, and fewer housing starts, certainly not a good combination of circumstances. The good news is we have begun to see some movements in these metrics, although more movement will be welcome and needed for a stronger rebound.
Our association was still in place for our members to receive legislative support, education, and the opportunity to enjoy each other’s company at the Annual Golf Outing. This golf event remains a major fundraiser for our Association, and we look forward to everyone’s participation in 2026. We also look forward to additional events to get together
This letter is once again our chance to renew their membership and contact one dealer to encourage them to join our group. The membership cost is still just $199.00 annually, but will be offset by the coupons offered by our participating vendors, such as Elias Wilf, UCX, and Fishman Flooring Solutions. We thank all suppliers for their generous support of our association. Additional membership benefits will continue for all Members, including being a preferred partner of our suppliers, which will enable them to receive competitive pricing on their projects. We will continue to develop and implement industry-leading training programs that can benefit your operations and professionalism. As other events and opportunities arise, we will reach out and let you know.
Moving into 2026, we will still be focused on issues that may affect our businesses. The one that could affect our industry is HB 516, with no cross-filing with the Senate. This bill is focused on investigating complaints rather than random investigations. If approved, there will be one investigator for every major population segment of the state. For example, Baltimore County and Baltimore City will have one investigator, and Central Maryland will have one as well. We will continue to monitor the progress of this bill.
For those members who conduct State business, you should review HB 517, which requires certification to be complete before any payments are authorized.
In closing, I am confident that together we can continue to strengthen our Association and build an organization that truly represents and serves our membership with pride.
Steve Weidner
President
